SAGA - REISSUE SERIES - STEEL UMBRELLAS
STEEL UMBRELLAS
Originally realeased in 1994
Preceding album: The Security Of Illusion (1993)
"Steel Umbrellas" is one of the second round of earMUSIC’s SAGA Reissue Series and is best known for featuring a more popish side of SAGA. The album was originally composed as a soundtrack for a TV series called ´Cobra`. Mixed by Mike Ging (Michael Jackson, Toto, Nazareth) in L.A., Steel Umbrellas takes you straight back to a more popish 80’s sound. While the opener “Why Not” is a great rock tune in all SAGA’s tradition, some very nice flowing ballads such as “I Walk With You” or “Say Goodbye To Hollywood” are featured here; “Steamroller” comes along with quite a funky attitude and “Shake That Tree” got a real groove on. Overall, Steel Umbrellas definitely features a softer SAGA than its preceders but doesn’t neglect the signature SAGA sound.
For this re-release, the album was completely remastered (2015). The tracklist is completed by two additional bonus tracks (never released before), newly recorded during their European Touring 2015 at Fabrik, Hamburg.

SAGA - REISSUE SERIES - THE BEGINNER’S GUIDE TO THROWING SHAPES
THE BEGINNER’S GUIDE TO THROWING SHAPES
Originally realeased in 1989
Preceding album: Wildest Dreams (1987)
"The Beginner’s Guide To Throwing Shapes" is one of the first two releases of earMUSIC’s SAGA Reissue Series and has been considered as a highly underrated jewel & fan favorite by many.
Following the preceding “Wildest Dreams”, "The Beginner’s Guide To Throwing Shapes" features straight steps to a slightly a more progressive hard rock sound, without neglecting any of the trademark sound components of SAGA. Michael Sadler (vocals, keyboards) and the two Crichton brothers - Jim Crichton (bass, synth) and Ian Crichton (guitars, synth) – were the power trio at the time after Jim Gilmour and Steve Negus had left the band a couple years before. They skillfully add the right ingredients to the album.
For this re-release, the album was completely remastered (2015). The tracklist is completed by two additional bonus tracks (never released before), newly recorded during their European Touring 2015 at Fabrik, Hamburg.

SAGA "PLEASURE & THE PAIN" OUT JANUARY 22ND 2016
earMUSIC reissues an excellent album series by SAGA, covering all studio albums from 1989 – 2007. The release of all 11 albums spans 12 months. All albums are enhanced by exclusive bonus tracks, newly recorded at Fabrik, Hamburg in April 2015 – Of course they’ve been never released before.
The cover artwork is mostly kept original but with a modern touch. The booklets include original fan material, fotos, press pictures and more. Additionally, the founding band members of SAGA have their say on each album. The individual liner notes grant quite personal introductions & insights to their work back in the days.
On ‚Pleasure & The Pain‘, the band’s 11th studio album, SAGA presents a much more edgy and tougher side than on their preceding albums. For SAGA quite unusual, the guitar as the leading instrument dominates most of the tracks, powerful riffs take the place of former extensive keyboard parts. At that time, the band was searching for a new contemporary SAGA sound while sticking to their trademark components.
‚Pleasure & The Pain‘ is clearly among the most exceptional works of SAGA.
Due to difficulties with his personal schedule, Steve Negus is missing on this record. For the recordings he was replaced by studio pro Glen Sobel (Alice Cooper a.o.).
For this re-release, the album was completely remastered (2015). The tracklist is completed by two additional live bonus track, newly recorded in Hamburg during their European Touring 2015.

SAGA - REISSUE SERIES - THE SECURITY OF ILLUSION
THE SECURITY OF ILLUSION
Originally released: 1993
Preceding album: The Beginner’s Guide to Throwing Shapes (1989)
The ninth studio album "The Security of Illusion" was originally released 1993 and marks the return of Jim Gilmour (keyboards) and Steve Negus (drums), who both had left the band in 1986.
This new reunion definitely sparked new creativity into the band. While still sticking to their guns, the album features a slightly more progressive, slightly harder sound that awakens vivid memories to albums from their early 80’s period, such as “Worlds Apart” (1981) oder “Head Or Tales” (1983).
Fans praise “The Security of Illusion” as a truly appropriate comeback of the original lineup.
With "Mind Over Matter" or "Stand Up", the album features the Canadian’s rocky side but doesn’t neglect a soft touch with the tender ballad "Alone Again Tonight" or "Voila!", which is a nice classically-influences instrumental.
For this re-release, the album was completely remastered (2015). The tracklist is completed by two additional bonus tracks (never released before), newly recorded during their European Touring 2015 at Fabrik, Hamburg.
