SAGACITY

sa·gac·i·ty     (s-gs-t)

The quality of being discerning, sound in judgment, and farsighted; wisdom.

Noun: wisdom, shrewdness, understanding, sense, insight, penetration, prudence, foresight, sharpness, discernment, perspicacity, knowingness, astuteness, acuteness, canniness, judiciousness, sapience
"A man of great sagacity and immense experience."

 The Mixing Process

These recordings were created and mixed using "Presonus Studio One" software. The album was mixed my Brian Foraker in Nashville, Tennessee. Because Brian was mixing the album during Saga's 2014 European Tour, Brian & Jim used "Source Live" internet streaming software to enable Jim to listen to the mixes live from Nashville. Jim used a pair of studio monitors connected to his iPhone to listen to Brian's mixes "live" and used Face Time on an iPad to communicate with Brian.

Jim's monitoring studio was set up in various hotel rooms and dressing rooms in The Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. As long as there was a good internet connection, "we were mixing!"
Because of the 7 hour time difference between Europe and Nashville, the band would like to say a "huge" Thank You to Brian for being online at 7 a.m. (a few hours before Saga's 4:30 p.m. soundcheck). We know that no one wants to be mixing an album with that many notes at 7 in the morning! Thank you Brian, it was a lot of fun!

Lyrics

1. Let It Slide

Well everybody keeps something up their
Sleeve it seems and we know why
Go ahead make your bed
So you've a shiny new place to lie
You're a mess, let me guess
You just found out that you've been at it again
Well, hand on hip, bite your lip
& then convince me you're not News at Ten

Are you waitin' for the proof?
Are ya gonna let it ride?
Are ya playin' with the truth?
Or are ya gonna let it slide......?

Can't we just pretend we never said it,
And just forget it?
Not this time!
Sure you believe it's just a given
And we're forgiven
Are ya gonna let it slide......?
Can't we just pretend we didn't get it
And not regret it
I don't think so!
Surely you believe we're only human
But that's assumin'

Some forgive some forget
But I have yet to see the positive side
So, cash your chips, purse your lips
Stand and deliver your best alibi
I presume you assume
That we're just here to keep your mischief aive
So, go ahead let's pretend you're never
One step over the line

Is your conscience on the loose?
Will you take me for a ride?
Gimme shelter from the truth?
Or are ya gonna let it slide......?

Can't we just pretend we never said it,
And just forget it?
Not this time!
Sure you believe it's just a given
And we're forgiven
Are ya gonna let it slide......?
Can't we just pretend we didn't get it
And not regret it
I don't think so!
Surely you believe we're only human
But that's assumin'

Can't we just pretend we never said it,
And just forget it?
Not this time!
Sure you believe it's just a given
And we're forgiven
Are ya gonna let it slide......?
Can't we just pretend we didn't get it
And not regret it
I don't think so!
Surely you believe we're only human
But that's assumin'

Ya know ya gotta let it... slide
Now ya gotta let it... slide
Are ya gonna let it... ?

2. Vital Signs

After we're done with alle the
Catch me if you can, now
What do you think you'll best remember?
Isn't it time we let
Somebody else wave the flag, 'cos
We haven'T seen it raised
Since last September

One foot over the line's what keeps us
Sneaking through the shadows
One word spoken in kind will find us
Back where we belong

After all is said and done
We've barely scratched the surface
But I think it's time we
Made a little room to breathe
How 'bout we play a little game of
Hide & seek for service
It's always been a beautiful sight to see
One foot over the line's what keeps us
Sneaking through the shadows
One word spoken in kind will find us
Back where we belong

We're barely human
At the best of times
Best not forget to check
Your vital signs

It's really of no consequence
Your good or bad intentions
So long as every move is
Made with style

So now we're done with alle the
Catch me if you can, well
What do you think you'll best remember?

One foot over the line's what keeps us
Sneaking through the shadows
One word spoken in kind will find us
Back where we belong
(repeat)

We're barely human
At the best of times
Best not forget to check
Your vital signs
(repeat bridge)

3. It Doesn't Matter (Who You Are)

The future ist coming
But it's not the same
Now where are you taking me?
talk to me, talk to me
Now you're gonna make it
In my hall of fame
Yes, I've been sinning
Will you talk to me?
talk to me

It doesn't matter who you are
You'll wish upon your lucky star

The dreams you create
That keep me up all night
Se what are ya tellin' me?
talk to me, talk to me

So give me some answers
Or it's fight or flight
Yes, I've been sinning
Will you talk to me?
talk to me

It doesn't matter who you are
You'll wish upon your lucky star

Sometines we get started
Then you fade away
And now you've re-started can you
talk to me, talk to me
We neet to talk and I mean
right away
You can reach me on Facebook
Right now!
talk to me, talk to me

(repeat chorus)

It doesn't matter who you are...

4. Go With The Flow

I never know where to go
Say it's so, like that
I remember you
Said "ain't it so"
But you know that I'm back

Echoes of the past bring
Questions for the future
I know I can face it
Without a replacement
As long as I take it...
Just one smile at a time

I go with the flow when it's right there
In front of me
It's time to go when you know where
You wanna be
I go with the flow now it's right here
In front of me
You know I want it, I'll never stop it

I never knew just how few
Times that you looked back
Well, I'll just assum
That you knew
Just how I'd react

Forward with no fear or
Sens of what comes after
I know we can make it
When others have faked it
As long a we take it...
Just one smile at a time

I go with the flow when it's right there
In front of me
It's time to go when you know where
You wanna be
I go with the flow now it's right here
In front of me
You know I want it, I'll never stop it

Take me down to the river
Walk me through the woods
Where you found me
Take me down to the river
Walk me through the woods
Where you found me

I go with the flow when it's right there
In front of me
It's time to go when you know
Where you wanna be
I go with the flow now it's right here
In front of me
You know I want it, I'll never stop it
(repeat)

If your evil neighbour's knocking at your door
Go ahead, press 4
I know that yesterday

6. Wake up

WAKE UP!

It's hard to be sure when you're certain
Harder still to come clean when you're dry
It's hard to believe when the truth is
Something tells you otherwise...
And it's hard to arrive & not be there
Harder still to attempt & not try
It's hard to maintain the illusion
That you're never satisfied

WAKE UP!

Well it's hard to unwind the vicious circles
Harder still to repay borrowed time
It's hard to make sense when the
Senseless rule with an airtight alibi
Well it's hard to lose face with the faithless
Harder still to conceive the unsaid
It's hard to believe when the truth is
Something tells you otherwise...

What kind of man bites the hand
While still feeding,
Thakes alle he can while
The rest is receding?
What kind of man never
Feels his heart beating?
All those on favour scream...
"This bears repeating!"

When the walls come tumbling down
They will fall without a sound
(repeat chorus)

7. Don't Forget To Breathe

Sometimes it's more,
Sometimes it's less
Than what you were expecting
Sometimes the worst,
Sometines the best
It's what you leave behind

You never know when you'll be
Rid of this place
You never know when you might
Need a new face

Sometimes within,
Sometimes without
The style you've been perfecting
Sometimes you're slow,
Sometimes you're fast
Enough to cheat them blind

One day you've no longer
A need for this place
'Till then the hunger's
Written all over your face

Caught up in the grind is fine
As long as what you hope to find is
Everything you're looking for
Just don't forget to breathe...

Sometimes you're up,
Sometimes you're down
Down & out in Random City
Sometimes a grin,
Sometimes a frown
Reveals you nitty gritty

Caught up in the grind is fine
As long as what you hope to find is
Everything you're looking for
Just don't forget to breathe...

Sometimes it's more,
Sometimes it's less
Than what you were expecting
Sometimes the worst,
Sometines the best
It's what you leave behind

One day you've no longer
A need for this place
'Till then the hunger's
Written all over your face
(repeat chorus)

8. The Further You Go

So once again the spoils are
Yours for the taking
Feel free to count them
While you sleep
But with your tendency to
Wander in circles
Drift off, but not too deep

Your faith of late has got you
Running in circles
But your secrets's safe with me

Take a number and close your eyes
We'll make sure you're satisfied
Hold your breath & count to ten
We'll tell you where & tell you when
Take a number and close your eyes
Convince yourself you're just in time
Hold your breathe & count to ten
We'll take you there and back again 'cos

These are the days of
The improbable my friend
So we hold on the hope
That one day all our dreams collide

The further you go, the harder it gets,
The more that you know
Wake up...
The further you go, the harder it gets,
The more that you know
Wake up...

You might wanna leave
A trail of crumbs for the future
Just a few along the way
'Cos that look tells me that you're stil
Running in circles
Ah, but your secret stays with me

These are the days of
The improbable my friend
So we hold on the hope
That one day all our dreams collide

The further you go
The harder it gets,
The more that you know
Wake up...
The further you go
The harder it gets,
The more that you know
Wake up...

The further you go, the harder it gets,
To remember how you got here
The further you go, the harder it gets,
To remember how to find the way
Back home

9. On My Way

Is this the time?
We turn the tide, well
I'll be here waiting
You're always running
There's always something
You tell me now
But I'm not clear on
What you've been up ti
If I can't see you
Should I believe you

On my way
Just watch my great escape
Time to change
Change comes to those who wait

There'll come a time
I don't know why but
This will be over
I'm on the inside
But looking outside
Where will we go?
What will we see if
We ever get there?
We've climbed the ladder

On my way
I know of a better place
Don't be late
Here comes our face to face
(repeat)

10. No Two Sides

What do ya say we start
A private revolution?
Give it all we've got 'till there
Isn't much left to give
What do ya say we find
A peaceful resolution?
Shake up all the rules
Find a brand new way to live

Two for the show
My oh my, how we have grown
Two for the show
Think of the seeds we have sown

What do ya say we try &
Change our situation?
Starting with a walk where
The angels fear to tread
What do ya say we think about
A new destination?
Start lookin' for another place to
Find our daily bread

Two for the show
My oh my, how we have grown
Two for the show
Think of the seeds we have sown

So are we gonna take out fears
To terms tonight
No fault, no shame
No two sides are the same
'Cos we can't let it end in tears again
tonight
No pain, no gain
One last refrain

What do ya say we start
A brand new competition?
Be the first on the block with
An original point of view
What do ya say we join
The latest expedition?
See if we can find something
Other than a deja vu

(repeat bridge)
(repeat chorus)

11. Luck

Seems to me a crime
To waste what little time we're given
Searching for something of a
Fortunate kind
And we spend our days
Inventing ways to feel more driven
Just a little bit more
To buy us just a but more time

I know what you need
You're not hard to read
You know what you need...

Luck
Celebrate your fate
Bladck cat
We'll make something outta nothing
So let's go
Luck
Take a leap of faith
Black cat
Nothin' ventured
Where'd that get ya?
So let's go

So each time we try
To push with even more persistence
Chances are we're really only
Playing for time
So we try at last
Our daily path of least restistance
Only to find
Another at the head of the line

(repeat bridge)
(repeat chorus)

12. I'll Be

Sometimes the voices are
There just to tell us
What we want to here
Sometimes the choices we
Make are the ones
That we pray disappear
But I suppose that one would say
That all our tomorrows
Began yesterday

I'll be
Your man in the mirror
But I'll need
Your help with the door
I'll be
Your constant companion, 'cos
I've been
Right where you are before

Sometimes your promises
Made are a shade on the
Dubious side
& sometimes your actions speak
Louder than words of an
Off colour kind

(repeat bridge)
(repeat chorus)

Falling, spinning,
More than willing to
Call it a day
Twisting, turning,
Reaching, yearning
For someting to say

(repeat chorus)

I'll be...
